Ready to live authentically and learn to love & accept yourself?
Meet Deborah Davis, LMFT
Relationship Therapist in Fair Oaks, Sacramento & Throughout California
Does the idea of ‘self-care’ feel selfish?
It can feel overwhelming and exhausting trying to “do it all.” You’re so busy juggling work, caring for others, and completing your list of day-to-day responsibilities that it becomes impossible to take any time for yourself.
Being a “successful” woman in today’s world often means a whole lot of self-sacrifice—in order to be the “good” mom, “star” employee or “perfect” spouse you may feel like you have to deny your own needs and what you truly want.
Eventually though, the guilt, resentment, and lack of fulfillment can start to get in the way. Many times it shows up most in our relationships, both with others and with ourselves.
Therapy is an opportunity to put yourself first.
In our work together, we’ll focus on helping you quiet your inner critic, identify what you want and express what you need, and ultimately embrace your authentic self.
Maybe you’ve been to therapy before and didn’t feel understood, felt judged, or as if you were being told what to do. My experience and focus on relationships means that you can come to me and get the support you need to not only improve your relationships with others, but also the most important one, the one you have with yourself.
I focus specifically on relationships because I believe that they are at the core of how we exist in the world, a reflection of our happiness and what it means to live authentically. Everything we do together will be through the lens of how you relate to yourself and how you relate to others, ultimately helping you step into your authentic self.
What it’s like to work with me
Therapy with me focuses not just on what’s bringing you in today, but also what’s shaped your life up to this point. We’ll look at things like your childhood, past experiences, beliefs about yourself, and family dynamics in order to understand yourself and your relationships better.
This is an environment where you can feel safe to share and talk about feelings and experiences in your life that perhaps you’ve never spoken about before. I will guide the session, but I don’t have a preconceived agenda.
My clients describe me as empathic, down to earth, authentic and non judgemental. My style is to be real with you. I will listen empathically and challenge you to see your true self and your unique gifts so that you can learn to love and accept yourself.
A PSYCHODYNAMIC APPROACH TO THERAPY
Childhood experiences often have a significant impact on our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors as an adult. Sometimes our reactions to current circumstances are actually influenced by those past events.
In psychodynamic therapy, we’ll look at your early experiences and family relationships in order to help you notice patterns, and ultimately better understand yourself.
Psychodynamic therapy can help you increase self-awareness, self-reflection, and self-examination.
My core values:
Authenticity is vital.
Trust your intuition.
You are the expert on yourself.
Your feelings matter.
Your needs are a priority.
